My dad and I flew to IL last week for a family reunion.
We first cousins are from OR, S CA, TX, CA, and IL.
I hadn't seen any of them in many, many years so this was really a very special time.
left to right: Larry, Lou, Sandy, Joanne, Janet, Alan, Carol, and Peggy.
It was a great time for my dad to get to visit again with his brother, Lou and wife, Vera.
Uncle Lou took his granddaughter, Staci, fishing (her request) and caught 12 fish which he then cleaned and cooked for our dinner. Way to go, Uncle Lou and Staci! YUMMY!!
Carol, my cousin from Texas, is also a musician and brought some books of piano duets. We had sooooooooooooooo much fun playing duets for an hour and a half on Saturday afternoon!
My cousin Lou (wife Nancy) raises horses on his farm. Haven't gotten thsose pics yet. Caring for the horses, breaking them etc is his passion and what he does on the side outside of his "real job".
Katie, me, and Staci (Carol's twins)
Here we are out at the horse stables. Katie is just barely in the picture on the left and Staci is in front of me.
If it looks like this horse and I are good friends in this picture, trust me, we are not. He is very friendly, but I do not have fond memories of the last time I was on a horse. I couldn't walk for 4 days after that 1 1 1/2 hour ride!
And cousin, Janet,(in the middle) was lovingly reminding me that I was the "older woman" (by 10 months!) Okay, fine!!:):) Carol is on left.
Saturday a.m. some of us got together for breakfast out at Beaver Dam.
Carol, her mom, Vera, and Susan proceeded to walk around the dam, which took an hour in the 102ish degree weather with about 25% humidity! No thanks for me:):)
Of course we enjoyed some great food Saturday evening thanks to Nancy. (Above with Lou) Thanks, Nancy!
Vera also prepared/organized food in her home for us at times over the days we were there.
Yes, Susan has a servant heart. Really, everyone chipped in t help out in so many ways!
Here are the Louis Schretiers who attended.
Back Row: Derrick, Lou, Nancy, Lou Sr., Katie
Front row: Staci (twin to Katie), Carol, Vera.
Jim and Janet Kessinger and their family.
Jodee, Tanya, wife to Jason and their boys, jack and Charlie.
Jim and Janet
Alan left: his sister Peggy (center) and his wife, Connie(right). Alan and Connie's little girl Amber was hiding:)
Denny and Joanne
Larry and Susan from OR.
And my dad,Otto, and me.
So now, instead of every 40 or 50 years, we've decided to try for every other year!
I have actually been the most removed cousin out here in CA. The others have seen each other much more often and some still live in the same town.
I have a few funny stories from the reunion tomorrow!
Thank you for stopping by!
