Demos who helped at the meeting on Saturday

Rosemarie Diehl showed us how to use the Decor Elements Sheets with the Big Shot.

She put vinyl on our corkboard and made coasters

a mug using the Chalkboard Decor Elements

She used the clear Decor Elements on the luggage tag.

And here is the chalkboard Decor Elements.  You can erase the "chalkboard" and write something else!

Kelly Haws gave us ideas for how to use the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets and more.

Barbara Jackson worked her magic with the Smooch Spritz and the Shimmer Paints.  Look at the bracelet that she made using the #115604 Fleurettes II pg 198 $9.95.  I told her that it matched my outfit but the bracelet is still in her possession!!

Barbara added  little water to an empty brad container along with several drops of color and soaked the flowers.  The color just naturally was more concentrated along the edges.  She said that it took a long time for them to dry.  After they were dry, she patted Champaign Shimmer on the flowers.

And here is a card where she added reinker to the white shimmer and painted on the back of the Embossed Vellum c/s with a sponge brush.  Then she went on to mount this on DSP and c/s. Is that gorgeous or what!

Sue Kempter-Miller had plenty of ideas of ways to use the new Simply Scored Tool.

Here is one of the many ideas that Sue brought. She started with a 12" piece of c/s and the panels are 2" each.  I haven't made this card, but you can probably figure out the diagonal folds...I hope!

I haven't made this card, but I know that she used 12 x 12 c/s and each panel is 2" wide.

Then she created some interesting "pleating" to decorate this gift bag.

 These demonstrators did a fantastic job!  Another big thank you for all of the time that they spent preparing for the event!

Birthday Card for an Accountant!

More ideas from last Saturday's meeting tomorrow.

A good friend's husband, who is an accountant, is having a birthday today, so I got inspired to make this card for him.

Opinion please:  I'm think that the greeting on the blue line weakens the card?  What do you think?  It wouldn't have a greeting on the front, but it would have more punch with the bold blue line and save the greeting for the inside.

Notes:  The line under the "2's" is 2"x 3/8" and the white stamped piece is 1 7/8"x 1/4".  I stamped the white piece after I cut it out.  So I cut extras so that I could stamp it until it was centered pretty well.

Gifts given out at last Saturday's meeting

Three demonstrators volunteered to make gifts to give to the guests and those who helped at the meeting.

Pat Chastain found these little Mary Engelbreit tissue boxes at her local big box store and covered it to make this adorable little gift.  This would be really nice with a Valentine's theme, too.  Click below for Pat's instructions.

The box is 3" in each direction and the DSP is Holly Berry Bouquet. She added the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and the Stitched Felt Pieces from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  She brought about a dozen boxes and all were decorated differently.

Cheryl LeFore used the Milk Carton Bigz Die to create this adorable little box.

Honestly, I have no clue how she put these together.  She used two of the milk cartons.  Her colors are Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, and white (sponnged with Not Quite Navy) and the Snow Burst Embossing Folder in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Paula Mangum made some mug covers that are amazing!

Here is what it looks like off of the mug. She used Simplicity Pattern #2450 if you would like to make them.

Jeanette Valenciana used the Fancy Favor Bigz Die to create this delightful table favor.  There is a little electric tea light inside that glows beautifully through the vellum paper.

Jeanette cut a square of the regular vellum (not card stock), stamped on it with StazOn, and mounted it behind the 2 3/8" Scallop circle Punch opening.  The Mica Flakes and the little clip at the top add some really nice touches.

More Card Contest Winners from Saturday's Quarterly Meeting

Terri Dunning used the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper and the Delightful dozen Stamp Sets to create this beautiful card.

Terri embosse the house with white craft ink and added a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

When you take off the band and open it up......

The Cherry Cobbler is 12"x 4" and is scored at 2",4",8" and 10".

The 2 1/2" white circle is punched out and the greeting is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

The band is 1 1/2" x I'm guessing 8 1/2" and was run throuh the Snow Burst Embossing Folder.

Vicki Ellis Ehresman used Come to Bethlehem create this classy, vintage Christmas card.

Vicki also used Very Vanilla and Early Espresso c/s,  the Morning Mocha DSP, Soft Suede ink, Basic Pearls, the Dotted Ribbon Punch and the Oval Scallop Bigz Die.

Anne Heard made a delightful card that would be a great litte Christmas card for a child.

Notes:  For the name, Anne cut off one edge of the grosgrain ribbon and then frayed it.

Margaret Mora made a beautiful card using Crystal Effects.

Card Contest Winners from Saturday's Quarterly Meeting

These two ladies won in the "Stamp Camp" category. 

This means that their card would take more than five minutes to make.

Jackie Cooley made a very creative card that can definitely bring a big smile to your face!

Supplies:

• Punches:  1 3/4" Circle (face); Boho Blossooms (tip of the hat); Scallop Trim Border Punch; Scallop Trim Corner Punch; Ornament Punch(hat); Owl Punch (eyes, nose);
• Bigz Dies:  Stocking Accesnts and Serif essentials
• Big Shot Polka dot Embossing Folder for the "J" and the "Y".

Notes:  The Frostwood Lodge DSP for the gift is 3 7/8"x 1 5/8" and the "Ribbon" on the package is 1/4" thick.  Jackie said that before punching, her white c/s was 4 1/4"x 5 1/4".  She punched the corners first and then filled in along with side useing the border punch.

 I would call Kimberly Stack's card, "Simple Elegance".

Here are Kimberly's notes about her card:

• Door handle is 1/4x 1 1/2" (curled on both ends) Espresso
• Very Vanilla c/s (all is sponged with Espresso)
• Door:  4"x 5 1/2"
• Large Insert:  1 1/2"x 2 3/4" (x2)  inside:  1 1/4"x 2 1/2" (x2)
• Small insert:  1 1/2"x 2" (x2)  Inside:  1 1/4"x 1 3/4" (x2)  (All of the inside door inserts are mounted with dimensionals.)
• Wreath:  1 3/4" Circle Punchwith 1" circle Punch to punch out the inside circle.
• Snail the Boho Punch in Old Olive DSP to the circle wreath.  She used 9 to 11 flowers from the Boho punch and ran them through the Snow Burst Embossing Folder.
• Rhinestones:  she colored with them with a red sharpie. They are very bright and sparkly in person.
  
• Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon

Wednesday Night Stamp Club

This week is really busy with my two Stamp Clubs and in prep for my quarterly meeting on Saturday.
I thought it would just be fun to let you peek in and see my Wednesday night stamp club.

Walk to End Alzheimers

Last Saturday thirteen of us participated in one of the Walks to end Alzheimers.

This was Shelly's idea and she did a fabulous job at organizing us!  We had matching t-shirts.

There were 300 people participating in the march.  Together we raised about $159,000.

My husband, Dave, passed away in December of 2009 with Alzheimers so it was an honor to participate in this walk.  It was an emotional day for us.

Medallion Christmas Tree

I have put together a tutorial for this unique Medallion Christmas Tree that I designed last week.

Be sure to read my notes that I have added at the end of this blog.  They are not in my tutorial.

This is going to be a perfect little gift for a teacher or an office worker.  I am going to add several to my table for the holidays!

The tree stands 6 1/2" tall to the top of the star.

You could always try a Garden Green version of this tree, too!

Notes:  Now that I have made my second tree, I have several notes to add that are not in the tutorial. 

• When you get to the last (top) layer, you may want to simply hold it with your fingers.  It would be really nice if someone else could put the little circle on for you while you hold it. (Wishful thinking probably)  It is hard to "corral" it because it is so small.
• I used between 40 and 50 Silver Glimmer Circles on the tree.
• If your tree is a little lopsided by the time you get to the top, then build up the side that is low with HOT GLUE and you can even it out and make the top layer level.
  

Please allow up to 24 hours for the tutorial to be delivered.  It probably will not take that long, but please allow for it just in case.
