Stamping at a local library

An ex-demonstrator working at a local library called me to see if I would be interested in teaching a craft class for some of their patrons.

She put out a sign up list and quickly had 16 people sign up!

Thank you to Yolanda Martinez and Andrienne Cruz for helping me on Saturday afternoon.!

We ended up with about 10 people coming.  The library pays for the class.

So with three stations and three of us helping, we had a great time and the time went very smoothly.  Here are the projects that we made.  I did all of the cutting.  They were able to use the big shot machine to emboss the Christmas Stocking only.

The stocking has another stocking on the back so that it is a gift certificate holder.

I stamped the Hand Penned Holiday greeting in Real Red.

Let's See...a Healthy Halloween Treat...

Since I could not think of one single food-type item that would fall under the category of a healthy Halloween treat, I bought pencils at the $$ Tree and here is what we made.

Shelly was over today and we had fun finishing up the treats for Joshua's party on Friday.

And here is the long view.  The candy corn (my first attempt at a treat) was difficult to put into the cello bags and they certainly are not healthy. But since I made it, I decided to show you what they look like in the cello bags.

Last of the trades from last week's meeting

Gayle Smith used the Petite Pocket Bigz Die.  I am really enjoying getting ideas of what to do with this die.  So here is a good one.

Gayle also used the Cupcake Bulder Punch and the Create a Cupcake Stamp Set.  She cut two of the Pocket Die pieces  She put the ends of the two pocket dies together and scored each piece at 4 1/4" .  Here is what the inside looks like.

The white piece on the right with the candles is 2 3/4".  It flips back and forth.  Here is the other side of it.

The last trade that I have is from Marie Leyva who made up a very cute holder for hot chocolate.

Very simple and very nice.

To make this, you start with a 11"x 4 1/4" piece of card stock (c/s).  Score it at 1" and 5 1/2".  Fold the 1" flap forward and the the 5 1/2" in the opposite direction.  That's it!  Add whatever DSP you would like adn decorate it.  I love the touch of punching a hole through the hot chocolate pouch and adding ribbon!

Here's a very clever touch that she added to the back:

She cut the top off of a 2 1/2" circle to form the cup.

Then, she punched the 3/8" Circle Punch (Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack) in the center of a 1" circle  to create the handle. 

Very nice idea! 

Wednesday, I'll be stamping with my daughter to make treats for Joshua's kindergarten for their Halloween party this Friday.

Christmas Apron with Hot Chocolate and Marshmellows and Happy Birthday to Lorraine Miles

Last Thursday some of my Stampin' Up! group came over for stamping and some business, too.  People traded if they wanted to.

Iris Tamishiro made this beautiful Christmas Apron. 

Don't you love how she used so many new products to make it ?

And here is the back.

This is a bit of an optical illusion.  The card stock pocket to this apron is in the back.  She started with an 8 1/4"x 4 1/4" piece of Soft Suede card stock.  She scored at 5 1/2" and folded the 2 3/4" piece up to the back to form the pocket for the Hot Chocolate.

On the front, Iris used the largest scallop from the Scallop Die #2 and the Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper (DSP) to form the apron.

The Dotted Scallop Border Ribbon Punch makes a perfect string for the apron.

Note: To create the candy cane, Iris cut out a red and a white candy cane.  She cut out the white portions of the candy cane and added them onto the solid red candy cane to this such a realistic effect.

When you add the DSP scallop to the front of the apron, just put the adhesive around the edges of the scallop.  The center part of the apron needs to be adhesive free so that the candy cane can slip in.

I think that you have to make up your own "armhole template" and then just continue to trace it for each apron.  The width of the very top of Iris's apron is 1 7/8". The armhole is 2 3/8" long.

Central Park

No, I did not fly to New York!  This is Central Park in Pasadena.  Delicious food!

I enjoyed lunch last week with my new friend, Cori.  I"m getting to know her through H Rock Church! Talk about an interesting and accomplished person! 

Friends and relationships are about my favorite thing!

When we let the Lord pour His love into us, then we have a lot of love that can funnel through us out to other people!  Cori is definitely a funnel with a big capacity for receiving and giving God's love!

The Sound of Music

Haugh Auditorium at Citrus College is known for it's great productions and today was no exception.  The cast was superb!  I walked out singing all of the songs.  I have to see if we have the CD!

We have 5 October birthdays.  Nine from our family attended the performance.

Joshua and me.  Joshua sat on my lap the whole time (loved it!).  I would whisper what was coming next because his most frequent question was, "Is it over?":)):)  He actually did quite well and enjoyed the singing and the kid scenes!

I didn't realize that all of the pictures of Gabe and Shelly that I took were with her camera!

I baked a second apple pie this morning because the first one was down to one piece by last night!

Happy 94th Birthday to my Dad!

It is now 5 45 a.m. and I am off to the kitchen to make his favorite:  a homemade apple pie!

I'll take a picture of my dad, (and the pie, of course) and add to this post after he is up today!!

My dad loves to play Blackjack so I made a pop up card using that theme.  This is a retired set.

So after dad plays his usual scrabble games at the Senior Center this morning, we'll go out for lunch and then we'll see a movie that is opeing today called "The Mighty Macs"

7:15 a.m. ...Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....can you smell it?  Our home smells sooooooooooooooo good!

I had to get a picture of my dad's pie as soon as I took it out of the oven, because knowing him, he might even have a piece for breakfast!!!

Petite Pocket Coffee Treat with Morning Cup

I got the inspiration to create this gift from Cindee Wilkinson.  I just LOVE it!

I'm going to go get some individual coffee packets this afternoon, but for now the mint sticks are fine.

Homemade Medallion Corral

Because I needed a  third hand, this is what I designed to help me "corral" the medallion card stock.

I used the 12 x 12 card board from a DSP package and cut two 1" strips.

I overlapped the ends about an inch and used two strips of Sticky Strip to securely adhere them together.  The finished length is a about 23".

Then I went to a local fabric/craft store and purchased a small roll of Velcro.  I added the soft fluffy part to the entire surface of the outside of the strip.

Next I used one of the Velcro circles (Differnt style of Velcro) and added one of the "grippers" at one end on the opposite side of the card board.

Here is what it looks like rolled up.

Then I put in a medallion (strips were cut at 2 1/4"), secured the circle around it, and marked the inside of the card board so that I will know how big to make the circle when I am making this size of medallion.

 Below, look just beyond the "2 1/4" mark and you will see  the outside ring that has been pulled to the black line.  It's the perfect size!

Then each time that you make a new size, mark the inside of the "corral" so that you will know where to secure the velro circle and make the correct size "corral".

Now, someone will probbly come up with a more durable material for a homemade corral.  It is all that I could think of quickly.  Maybe there is a type of then plastic that we could cut?
