A very simple Loads of Love card for a children's birthday party

Last week a new customer ordered a number of Christmas sets from me for her daughter's  seven year old birthday party so that they can make Christmas cards.  I decided to make up a sample out of one of the sets that she ordered:  Loads of Love.  I wanted to make it simple enough that the children could easily copy it if they wanted to.  Now, they may not do the layering, but it was challenge and fun to try to think of something quick and easy.

Supplies:  Handsome Hunter, Basic Gray, Whisper White card stock.  Blender pens, Handsome Hunter, Basic Gray, and Handsome Hunter, Real Red Classic Inks  (pages 156-167  All Holidays (for the greeting)

Have you ever done the masking technique?

To get the tree into the truck, stamp the truck on a thin piece of paper like computer paper and cut it out. This creates a "mask".  Then lay the mask over the stamped truck.  Stamp the tree in the back of the pick up truck letting the end of the tree trunk stamp onto the mask.  When you remove the mask, the end of the trunk of the tree has disappeared (because it was stamped on the mask) and the tree trunk looks like it is in the back of the pick up!

Thanksgiving with Family

There were five of us together for Thanksgiving dinner.

My dad (who is feeling really good these days)  and our son, Brad.

 

Then Marilyn, Dave's Dad, and me.

 

I bought a turkey breast from Costco that was bound up in mesh and already seasoned and put it in the crockpot.  It was sooooooo easy, and was very moist!

Gabe and Shelly and the boys were out of town with his family.

We took Dave some pumpkin pie with whipped cream and visited with him at the end of the day!

A Second Packaging idea from Michelle

Use the Big Shot to cut out two of the Box #2 Bigz die.  Cut off the flaps and the top of each box.

Add the tall center piece inbetween the boxes (5 1/2"x 3 3/4").  Adhere the two boxes together and add the Merry Moments Designer paper to the outside.  Use the Wide Oval Punch to make the handle.

My friend, Michelle Halleen sent me two of the cutest ideas that i would like to share with you.

This  adorable little box is cut by hand, not with the Big Shot.

The Garden Green box that slips out is 2"x 2 5/8" x 3/4" high.

Start with a 5"x 5 3/4" piece of card stock.  Score at 3/4" and 1 1/2" on each side.

This picture will show you how to cut and fold the box.

The Designer Series paper that she wrapped around the box is from Merry Moments.

Score the 2 3/4" wide x 6 5/8" long designer paper at 7/8",2 15/16", 3 3/4", 5 13/16. 

Use the Curly Label Punch in the designer paper and adhere some acetate to the back of the opening.

Stamp the snowflakes onto the acetate with white StazOn ink before you add it to the box.

I've got to go out and buy more red and green M&M's because I have eaten all of them and it isn't' as cute without the candy!

I hope you do not mind fractions!  I'm sure you have a friend who will help you if your brain does not like to work with them!

This got a little more involved than I thought it was going to so I will share the second one with you tomorrow!

Thankfulness protects our hearts

Whale of a Birthday Card for Our Grandson's Third Birthday

This is a miracle of some type...really.  I tried the process to get fix adobe photoshop AGAIN, and this time is worked!  Whew! 

Joshua turns three next weekend but Gabe and Shelly will be out of town.  So I have made this card for Joshua and then today, Joshua and I have a date to the Glendale Center Theatre. We're going to see Snowwhite and the Seven Dwarfs. I hope to have some fun pictures from the weekend to share tomorrow.
