The Medallion Stamp is the #1 Seller in the Stampin' Up! Catalog!

Here is an idea with the Medallion stamp that I had my customer and friend, Cindy, demonstrate at my Open House here in Duarte CA on August 22nd.

Dressing the idea up a little bit is fun, too.



This may not look simple, but the steps really are.
Of course, no two will ever turn out exactly alike.

• Turn the stamp upside down on the table and ink ink it first with a sponge daubber in Rich Razzleberry (Not all of the rubber.   Just some of it.)
• Then use a separate daubber for Melon Mambo on and around the stamp.
• And finish up with a little Crushed Curry ink.
• Huff the inked image and stamp it on the Whisper white card stock.
• Cover the entire piece of white card stock with the VersaMark ink.
• Add clear embossing powder and emboss.
• Run the print through the Finial Press Embossing folder.
• Add ribbon, words, accessories, layers etc.

Our grandson turns ONE!

I was hoping for some party pictures, but between the wildfires here in Southern CA and the 100 degree heat, Dave and I didn't last long enough to get pictures at the outdoor party this afternoon.

However, we got to take care of the boys for a little while before the party while Gabe and Shelly were setting things up at the park.  So I did get one picture.  Oops!  I forgot to take out the pacifier:).

 

Jeremy (left) is now one.  Joshua is two years and nine months.
Grandchildren are a priceless gift, aren't they!!

Flowers and a Build-a-Bear card say it all!

A really nice surprise was delivered to our door on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier in the week our son, Brad, asked if he could pick out a card that he needed.  I said sure.



Brad was just saying thanks for some things.
Card and flowers and the heart behind them really mean a lot to me!

Meeting with the Demonstrators in my group is really a lot of Fun!

Anne and Trinia are sampling some  Candy Floss (Pismaniye) that friends of ours living in Turkey brought for Dave and me to sample.  Looks  good, doesn't it!

And we also did some stamping!!

Build-a-Bear Magnetic Board, Magnetic Bear, and Magnetic Clothes

I started with the #110713 On Board Book Basics Large , page 185, (4 pieces) 9 3/8" square.
I painted one board for the front and used sticky strip to add a second clean board for the backing.

Then I went to a local home improvement store to purchase these two products:
These are water base products so this roller has been washed and is ready to go again.



I didn't take pictures in the process, but the steps are simple.

You are going to put on three coats of the Magnetic Paint.
Here's what you do:
I took one piece of the chip board outside and put it onto newspaper.
I also cut out two kraft card stock bears and painted them as well.
Roll a thin coat that completely covers the chipboard.
Let this dry for 30 minutes.
Put on a second coat of the Magnetic Paint.
Let it dry for 30 minutes.
Put on a third coat of Magnetic Paint.
Let it dry for 30 minutes.

That is it!  You now have a magnetic board and magnet bears that are ready to use.
I cut out several chipboard bears, then added the magnetic bear, then added the top bear.
A thicker bear is easier for little hands to pull on and off the board.
Add one more bear of your color choice on top of the blackened magnetic bear.

I bought the business card magnets,( peel and stick), to put on the back of the bears and clothes.

Here is what I came up with!!



Okay, so let's dress the bears!
I was in the Christmas mode, but of course, you may choose any clothes that you would like to dress your bears.



What did I learn?
Keep the clothes as thin as possible.  I initially mounted my card stock clothes on thin card board and then added the magnetic sheet.
What am I going to change?
I'm going to put the magnet right onto the card stock so that it will have as much magnetic pull as possible.

Leaves #2 with the Wood Sheets make a Wonderful Thanksgiving Card

If you are wanting to add interest to your fall cards, you will want to add the Leaves Bigz Die #2 and the Wood Sheets to your supplies.  This will be our family's Thanksgiving card this year.

Wood sheets are very thin Balsa Wood and they go through the Big Shot so easily.
The wood sheets are 5 3/4"x 13 3/4" and come four to a package.
Here is what the little piece of the sheet looks like once it has been run through the Big shot.



I sponged the leaves with three colors:  Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and Old Olive and mounted them onto the card with dimensionals.

Decorative Christmas Wall Hanging Class Coming Soon!

While I was at the convention, a demonstrator Ruth Bingle, demonstrated a wall hanging very similar to the one that I came home and made from her idea.

I'm not only going to be making one of these for some special people for Christmas gifts, I am also going to use this idea to make a wall hanging for our grandaughter, Jaelynne, who is due in January. Her's will be pink, of course!

My Open House was "Beary" fun!

A great big thank you to Cindy, Colleen, and Mary for helping me with the Open House!  I couldn't have done it without them!!

About twenty two people came through today and  really enjoyed making the Build-a-Bear project and looking at all the new ideas!

Here are pictures of the very first people here for the day.
 
Merylee, on the right, watched as Cindy showed a great technique using sponge daubbers in pads to ink the #1 best selling stamp in the catalog, #115223, the Medallion, page 133 for $17.95!
I'll post pictures next week.

And at the other end of the room were the other early "arrivees"  (can we make that into a word?:)

hands-on Build-a-Bear project that I posted on Friday.

Here's why I am not posting more pictures from the day!!!


You have to cut the peaches each day as they are ready or you loose them to becoming overripe.
 I cut up eighteen two-cup bags tonight and got them put into the freezer
and will have many more to cut in the next week as they are ready!

I had ice cream sundaes for the Open House today and we had fresh peaches as one of the toppings!
YUM!!!!

Monday, we'll be back to stamping.....and to cutting up more peaches!!

Brad and my Dad make the annual trek to Littlerock CA to pick peaches.

We love to have peaches to eat all year long, so each August we head to Littlerock CA.

Our children's godparents introduced us to their peach picking tradition twenty eight years ago and I think  that we've only missed one year since! This morning Dave wasn't feeling well, so he and I stayed home. Our son, Brad, and my dad left at 6:30 a.m. to go pick.  They were home again by 10:30 with 150 pounds of peaches!

Wondering what we do with so many peaches?
After we disperse some to friends, we end up with about 100 pounds.
I cut off the skin and put about two cups into a bowl with 1 tsp. of Fruit Fresh or Ever Fresh.
(Canning section of the grocery store).
After I mix the Ever Fresh into the peaches, I put the two cups into a quart size Zip Lock bag, get the air out, and lay the bag flat on a freezer shelf. (no sugar necessary.)
We've eaten peaches that have been stored in our freezer for up to 1 1/2 years and they taste as good the day you take them out as the day you put them in!!

We have homemade waffles every Sunday night and we love to thaw out peaches as one of the toppings!
I also love to eat cottege cheese with fresh peaches.
Occasionally I made peach cobbler, but I usually get carried away and eat too much.
Then I'm sad that I ever made it!

Littlerock is close to Lancaster CA in the Antelope Valley.
The season has just begun so there is still time to pick.  It takes us about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there from our home here in Duarte.  Take your own boxes and some newpaper for packing the peaches.
It's a great family tradition!!
